Wonders of Surrender.

When a student learns Mathematics (for example), he is assured to make mistakes. This is because he has not understood the subject completely. In order to understand the subject, the student works hard,under the guidance of a teacher.

 Now, this is a crucial point that decides the student's future. If the student submits himself to the teacher and accepts the teachings, by shunning away his own infinitesimal understanding of the subject then he is assured to succeed. But, if the student independently takes charge of acquiring knowledge,he is going nowhere.

 Now think as to what this example means in relation to our own life?

 We face problems in life, due to the mind. Our mind (which is the source of all problems) takes ownership of guiding us through life. This is the biggest of all problems! But spiritual discipline shall enable us to break through this problem.
We are inflicted by our own thoughts (problems), produced by the mind and hence need to be treated immediately. An enlightened master is the only doctor who knows the prescription of medicines for our treatment. Thus, we must abide by the doctor (guru) to get rid of our disease (problems). Only if we surrender to what the doctor says can we break free from the disease.

Knowledge is not heritable. It is not an asset, thus cannot be possessed. It is not available in books which can simply be acquired through mere reading. We must understand the nature of 'knowledge' first. Knowledge is the source of existence. The very idea of distinguishing one from other that streams from our thoughts is the result of enough churning of knowledge. It is the possibility to grasp reality, an aid for us humans to get a glimpse of the ultimate truth. It is the repository of truth and hence is beyond conception. It may seem a nightmare when you realize that the your loved ones are no more the same. It may be either your friend, spouse, children or other relatives. Your confidence in them has drastically reduced. Why now, today your loved ones seem alien to you? The answer may be vague, perhaps a mix of emotions. Any change we perceive in the world is a result of the mental makeup of oneself and the other.
