What do we fear?

Most of us are unaware of our fears. This is because we live fear, we breathe fear. Our very existence is synonymous to fear. If we live in something how can we ever know it fully?
It is just like, we cannot know the 'well' we are trapped in. Only the one outside the well can know its features like depth, height, breadth, area, etc.
We are those beings trapped inside the well and the one outside it is the spiritual being. He is the only one who can draw us out of this illusion.

What is fear, is it a ghost?
Yes, fear is the Ghost that does not allow our minds to rest in peace even for a moment. This characteristic is similar to those of monkeys. It is the trail of thoughts cluttering our mind, which unconsciously governs our lives.

To understand this, try answering this question:

Why do we work day and night?

A commonly heard answer to this question is:
To maintain a family and a status in society.

In this situation we veil our 'fear' in the name of duties and responsibilities. We work for none of the reasons above. The truth is that we work to pacify our chattering mind and to suppress our fear of the 'future and society'. We don not fear any person in particular. What makes us fearful is the impression, others draws about us. We fear from being judged.

Know that we never fear the world we can perceive, but we fear the world within that. Our cause of fear is the intangible world of emotions, opinions, judgments, etc which is individually present in every being. This is the unknowable, which one can never know. We do not fear the unknown person but the unknowable. We fear the 'unknowable' which rests in the lap of the FUTURE.

Precisely, we fear the future, which never manifests itself and even if it does, it changes. It becomes the present. Fearing the future is foolishness as its the mind's trick. No future manifests as reality. We must be grounded in the present where future has no existence and fear terminates.
