Early Psychology

Image
Traditionally Psychology was referred to the study of the mind. Here, the 'mind' had a subtle meaning. It referred to the repository of thoughts, emotions, feelings, notions, opinions, behaviors and compulsions. Thus, psychology referred to the study of the human consciousness, which effects one's daily lives. So, it was mandatory to adopt Psychology as a practice, in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This Psychology was not a subject, but it just formed a part of the ancient practices. Ancient Psychology was highly traditional, involving chanting of mantras and Vedic texts to increase concentration and focus of the mind, practicing Yoga for the enrichment of the human mind and body. Found the way out of negativity!

Only when we associate ourselves with our emotions and actions do we realize our existence. The driving factor of this incorrigible and spontaneous phenomenon is our mind. When we take ownership of our thoughts,  generated by our mind we get susceptible to the sorrows and happiness presented by material life. Thus, becoming conscious of our thoughts we realize that we are separate from them. They are not a part of us but they are trying to become a part of us. They succeed in their endeavors the moment we associate with them. Introspecting our thoughts, lights up our dark mind, making way for reality. Mind is not a part of this 'self' and hence it is apart from our existence. We can stop this cycle of the mind by surrendering them to God and by leaving it to His will alone. Constantly becoming the observer of the mind is an effective method to get rid of this contamination. Purification of the mind through the method of surrendering is the fastest and easiest way as it era...

What do we fear?

Image
Most of us are unaware of our fears. This is because we live fear, we breathe fear. Our very existence is synonymous to fear. If we live in something how can we ever know it fully? It is just like, we cannot know the 'well' we are trapped in. Only the one outside the well can know its features like depth, height, breadth, area, etc. We are those beings trapped inside the well and the one outside it is the spiritual being. He is the only one who can draw us out of this illusion. What is fear, is it a ghost? Yes, fear is the Ghost that does not allow our minds to rest in peace even for a moment. This characteristic is similar to those of monkeys. It is the trail of thoughts cluttering our mind, which unconsciously governs our lives. To understand this, try answering this question: Why do we work day and night? A commonly heard answer to this question is: To maintain a family and a status in society. In this situation we veil our 'fear' in the name of duties ...

Surrender

Image
Every act we perform in the world has already taken place. Before we act on something, the thought of performing that act has taken place in the mind. The mind is that dark cave where no light exists, the abode of ignorance. Any activity taking place under the commander-ship of the mind will lead us astray. This is because the mind restricts the light of truth to illuminate it. When we leave the association of the mind, it simply means we abandon unconsciousness. We should solely depend on the supreme lord and follow His words, the truth. Where truth resides, no falsity exists and where no falsity exits no fear. Thus, where there is no fear, the effect of the mind is transcended. No thoughts having ill intentions can ever arise as now all thoughts shall pass under the guidance and supervision of God. Awareness is God.
