Education Vs Literacy

Image
Well, in high school we haven't heard of Education Vs Literacy, just because we were taught them to be synonyms for one another. However, there is a subtle, yet important factor that sets them different. We have achieved a lot from School and College. We knew friendship along with Career and then finally our jobs. However, these learning centres only equipped us to come back to this world. This is the world of competition and struggle. They taught us to become one like them and not different. Thus, this process is termed as literacy. They taught us the very first alphabets to be able to communicate effectively in this competitive world. To be influential they enhanced our vocabulary, knowledge and altering our stance to the most updated teaching, helping us to be with time and not out-dated. But,this is just literacy. There is another term, quite deeper in its meaning, which many of us have not thought deeply about. This is education. Education deals with the way we respond ...

Work: Shaping the Mind

Image
Work is the greatest tool, promoting spiritual growth. This applies to any kind of work. Because, the very design of work is against human liking. We humans are attuned to do things of our liking and neglect work by saying: "It is not my cup of tea". Now, questions like, "Why do people avoid working", "Why people don't like work", etc, arise. A simple answer to all such questions is that, people today have become very finicky. People have abandoned activities that are beneficial and are in the pursuit of satisfying their senses. What do we fear?

Image
Most of us are unaware of our fears. This is because we live fear, we breathe fear. Our very existence is synonymous to fear. If we live in something how can we ever know it fully? It is just like, we cannot know the 'well' we are trapped in. Only the one outside the well can know its features like depth, height, breadth, area, etc. We are those beings trapped inside the well and the one outside it is the spiritual being. He is the only one who can draw us out of this illusion. What is fear, is it a ghost? Yes, fear is the Ghost that does not allow our minds to rest in peace even for a moment. This characteristic is similar to those of monkeys. It is the trail of thoughts cluttering our mind, which unconsciously governs our lives. To understand this, try answering this question: Why do we work day and night? A commonly heard answer to this question is: To maintain a family and a status in society. In this situation we veil our 'fear' in the name of duties ...

Work to attain the Divine.

Image
The Joy of work is hardly experienced by anyone today. In fact it is the main source of stress in one's life. But why is it like that? Since childhood, one is brought up in a competitive world. We have always looked at work as a source of income and profits. However, this is an incorrect way of looking at things and thus  we are stressed about work. Our stress is not due to the work but our own expectations associated to that work. We expect results even before we get onto working. This sort of an approach is assured to attract negativity (stress). We must let go our expectations, the root cause of our miseries. Work is a great medium to work on one's frailties. Working sincerely is a sign of being committed to God Himself. Applying the principles of Karma Yoga is the first step towards experiencing the joy of work. Its very basis is to let go the results unto the Lord and work hard to your fullest ability. By doing so, we claim no ownership of the work and so we do...
